The questions we are asked most, answered with numbers

Vague answers help nobody decide. What follows is drawn from real proposals — actual figures, and a straight account of what we can and cannot do.

How much does it cost?

It depends entirely on what you want. Two trips of the same length can differ several-fold depending on the standard of the inns and the dining.

Most requests land somewhere around USD 15,000–30,000 for the whole party, and longer trips or larger groups run beyond that. Recent proposals: approximately USD 11,300 for a couple over nine days, ¥1,910,000 for a couple travelling nine nights in Japan, ¥2,640,000 for a couple across seven nights of inns, ¥8,210,000 for a family of three over twelve days, and ¥3,460,000 for a one-evening corporate event for fifteen.

Partial requests — flights alone, or a single restaurant — are equally welcome.

Tell us your budget first and we will design the best trip within it. All fees are shown before work begins, and nothing is added afterwards.

How far in advance should I get in touch?

Between twelve and four months before departure is ideal. The most sought-after inns and restaurants fill their allocation in that window.

One month out is still workable. We will tell you honestly what can and cannot be secured at that point, then proceed from there — so please do ask.

Can you really book restaurants that are said to be impossible to reserve?

Yes. Among others, we have arranged tables at Sushi Saito, the kaiseki restaurant Takiya, and the yakiniku restaurant Shinshinkiei.

The full list — sushi, kaiseki, yakiniku, yakitori, Chinese and French — is set out by genre on the case studies page. We do not, however, promise every request. Whether a particular table is reachable depends on the date, the party size and the restaurant, and we tell you honestly before any work begins.

Can you provide an English-speaking guide?

Yes, whenever you would like one. A guide can accompany you throughout, or join for a single day or a single experience.

We work in English, Japanese and Korean.

Can I ask for only part of a trip?

Yes. A good number of enquiries are for flights alone, or for restaurant reservations alone — including guests who had already booked their own stay and wanted only the dining arranged.

Where in Japan do you operate?

The whole of Japan. Alongside Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, we have arranged travel through the hot-spring towns of Kyushu, the satoyama of Hokuriku and the outer islands of Okinawa.

The figures above are drawn from real proposals and are indicative. Actual pricing varies with season, availability, party size and the shape of the request. See the case studies
