Aman Kyoto: The Luxury of Tranquility. A Special Time.

Hello everyone. This is S, your monthly travel enthusiast!

Kyoto boasts numerous luxury hotels, but among them, Aman Kyoto stands out as a sanctuary where nature and tranquility reach their pinnacle. Remarkably, Aman Kyoto offers an intimate experience with just 26 guest rooms. This time, I had the pleasure of experiencing the ultimate luxury during my stay at Aman Kyoto.

The Allure of Aman Kyoto

  • An extraordinary experience unique to Kyoto

Guests staying at Aman Kyoto can experience Zen meditation with local Buddhist monks at temples usually closed to the public, participate in tea ceremonies, and enjoy garden strolls.

Yoga sessions were also available.

Upon check-in, guests receive a schedule of activities for their stay, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in Kyoto's charms simply by enjoying the hotel's exquisite offerings.

As shown on the map in the image, the entire property is designed like a private theme park, unfolding an extraordinary world.

Guest Room Introduction

Room Concept

The rooms are designed with the concept of becoming one with nature. Incorporating traditional Japanese materials such as wood, stone, and washi paper, they create a space that feels like staying in a luxurious ryokan nestled in a forest.

The incredibly stylish interiors were so captivating, I couldn't resist taking countless photos!

Guest rooms offer views of the garden and forest through large windows, and each is equipped with a hinoki cypress bathtub. There was also a hot spring on the premises. While it is a paid service, private reservations are available. It could be an ideal choice for couples or families!

The window directly in front of the bath can be opened, allowing for an experience akin to bathing amidst the forest.

The room I stayed in was on the second floor, and the staff recommended it, noting that the upper parts of the trees formed the view from the room.

Welcome Drinks

Wine (red/white)

Sake

Sparkling wine

Beer

Soft drinks

A selection of these beverages was also provided in the room. As my visit was for an anniversary, the thoughtful provision of champagne was a delightful surprise.

The welcome sweets, such as traditional konpeito, also beautifully evoked the spirit of Kyoto and were utterly delicious!

Dinner | Seasonal Delights: An Exquisite Kaiseki Experience

For dinner, I enjoyed a kaiseki meal at the Japanese restaurant 'Taka-An'.

The interior offered a serene ambiance with the warmth of wood, and outside the window, a beautifully lit garden unfolded.

Savoring each meticulously presented dish in such a tranquil setting was a luxury truly unique to Aman Kyoto. The omakase kaiseki, featuring the finest seasonal ingredients of the day, allowed me to experience the changing seasons with all five senses.

The tableware and presentation also reflected Kyoto's aesthetic sensibilities, making each dish feel like a work of art.

Approximately five pieces of sushi were served. Personally, I believe that a visit to Kyoto should include both sushi and traditional Japanese cuisine, and this course perfectly fulfilled that desire. As a sake enthusiast, I also thoroughly enjoyed selecting from the wide variety of sake sourced from different regions across Japan!

It was more than just a meal to satisfy hunger; it was a dinner that made me feel like I was experiencing Japanese culture itself. I highly recommend the counter seats, where you can watch the chefs at work right before your eyes!

Breakfast | The Luxury of a Tranquil Kyoto Morning

The next morning, I had breakfast at 'The Living Pavilion by Aman'.

Waking up to the soft morning light streaming through large windows, overlooking the lush garden, was a special moment in itself. I chose the Japanese breakfast.

Dishes featuring Kyoto's unique ingredients, such as grilled fish, freshly cooked rice, miso soup, and various small side dishes, were beautifully arranged. The gentle seasoning, which delicately brought out the natural flavors of the ingredients, was particularly impressive.

The earthenware pot rice was a delightful touch! Although I selected the Japanese set, it was also possible to customize with à la carte options. This is perfect for those who wish to enjoy both Japanese and Western dishes! I also ordered pancakes as an extra.

Gluten-free bread and pancakes, as well as vegan and vegetarian options, were also available.

Furthermore, a wide variety of smoothies, detox juices, and drinks made with enzymes and vinegar were offered, making it a truly joyful breakfast for a health enthusiast like myself. Given the extensive selection, ordering small portions might be a good idea! (Half-sizes were available).
